Hello Jason,

I just updated to beta 6.8 beta3, and during install Kaspersky Anti-virus says there is an troyan called HEUR:Trojan.Win32.Generic.

I excluded the file from scan, but i guess you want this to be fixed I'm on Windows 10 Pro and i added a screenshot.

Cheers, Daniël.

Thanks rebel, unfortunately Kaspersky is wildly inaccurate in it's detection schemes, and although I do put in the work to combat it for official releases, unfortunately I don't have time to constantly worry about it for beta releases. Personally I strongly recommend against using Kaspersky and recommend using the built-in Windows Defender antivirus protection instead.

Ok, good to know, I will not report this then if i see this next time in a beta.

It is true what you say about Kasps detection schemes, but i think personally that its better to have an 3rd party anti-virus. Maybe because i'm used to it, or maybe because i did not get infected for the last decade, i'm not sure. The best anti-virus is imo behind the keyboard.

It's funny that when i worked at a front office of a few data-centers, almost all the visiting techs all recommend against the build-in anti-virus, but that was a few years ago, did Defender really got that better?

I just tend to believe that if anti-virus software is over-zealous and reports all kinds of false positives, how can it be trusted at all? Kind of like the boy who cried wolf scenario. I find Defender to be accurate and unobtrusive (notably it doesn't bring your system to a crawl) and I value those things, so that's why I recommend it. At some point, it doesn't matter if third-party anti-virus supposedly finds more viruses if it also labels good programs as viruses, because accuracy and confidence go out the window.

Thanks though, rebelone; I do appreciate it. :)
