Audio from video continuing to play after selecting a new video in Big Box mode

Issue #1442 resolved
Shannon Cross created an issue

I have had an error appear on three occasions so far, when exiting from Big Box mode. This appears to have only occurred after I started adding videos for games and I speculate it might have something to do with the audio from one video continuing to play after selecting a new game in the list (audio from the original video will play indefinitely in any menu, until you completely exit from Big Box). This will happen very frequently, but the error has only occurred a few times and only when the overlapping, perpetual audio is happening. All videos are in .MP4 format. Not sure if this is a VLC issue and since I just got the error again, I decided to report it.

LB ver.: 6.7 Windows ver.: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Issue Frequency: Sometimes (Infrequent)

Steps to reproduce:

  • Launch Big Box
  • Scroll through any library of games with videos until audio begins to overlap onto the next video (this has happened for me, at some point, during every single session of Big Box since adding videos).
  • Continue highlighting videos in current library, other libraries, platforms menu or Big Box menu and observe the audio continues to play
  • Exit Big Box from controller or menu
  • Sometimes (infrequently) an error log window will appear (attached)

Hey Shannon! Thanks so much for letting us know. I'll mark this critical so Jason can take a look at the error code! We appreciate your support!

Thank you Shannon. The latest beta goes a long way to resolve some of the issues with the VLC video playback engine. We are still working on solving some remaining issues, though, so if the Windows Media Player engine does work for you, we recommend you use that instead of VLC until we can get the remaining issues fixed.

I do believe that the specific issues you mention here are fixed in the latest beta, however, so I will mark this ticket resolved. Thanks! :)

Gah... totally didn't even think about updating to a Beta release. Seems to have done the trick though :).

Thanks for all your work on this! Definitely the most user-friendly front-end out there.
