Big Box crashes
I moved my videos and images to another hard drive, and everything worked as planned, until I realize after Bog Box begins to play roughly 5 or 6 videos, it crashes.
This only started happening to me today, after I moved my video and image files to another hard drive. It happened on the current release, as well as I tried the beta - same thing.
LaunchBox version: 6.9-beta-18 Windows version: Windows 10 Home x64 Frequency: Occurs everytime within minutes, only when browsing my Windows library, which plays trailers in the background. Steps to reproduce: Simply start Big Box, go to a platform which has videos and images on another hard drive, have videos autoplay on highlight, and navigate. Happens within minutes.
No actual LaunchBox error seems to be caught. It's a Windows error stating it will see if it can identify the problem and let me know. it does not notify me of a solution.
Thanks so much.

reporter I'll look into it tonight if I have time by scanning the drive, and installing launch/big box on the same drive. I'll report my findings back.
Thanks

reporter P.S. - I use VLC as my video player, but it doesnt seem to work when I play fullscreen.

repo owner Sure, thanks George. Also try upgrading to the latest beta; I've fixed a lot of stuff with VLC so that might resolve the problem as well.

reporter Ok Jason. Upgraded to the latest beta, as well as have installed a second copy on to the same drive. I scanned the drive for errors and it came up clean. I'm still getting the crashing issue, even though everything is on the same drive. Is there an error log I can upload?
-
repo owner Unfortunately not really; we need to add some better logging mechanisms. Try switching to the Windows Media Player video playback engine to see if the crash is related to VLC or not.
-
reporter I switched to WMP engine, and the crash still occurred.

reporter Jason, I reinstalled LaunchBox, but did not have my videos in a different directory, and it has no crashed since. Used it for approx. 30 minutes tonight, and no crash. Crashes occurred within minutes every time.

repo owner Thanks George; I'll go ahead and resolve this ticket.

Hi George, that is pretty odd. If it's only happening on a different hard drive, I would think that there might be disk errors on that drive or possibly some minor filesystem corruption. That's just a guess, but it's worth investigating since it's only happening on that drive.
Are you using the VLC video playback engine or the Windows Media Player one?
