Allow audio/video separation for Big Box Console Videos

Issue #2023 new
Former user created an issue

As incredible as the Big Box console videos are, some of the music isn't specifically to my taste. I had taken to editing the video files and dubbing over my own music, for personal use, but I thought that maybe there could be a better way.

It would be nice if each theme (and the default theme) had separate "video" and "audio" folders for each intro video. Most typical users wouldn't see any differences in their experience, but it'd expand the options for configurability in Bigbox greatly for many people.

Another benefit of separating the two is that you could potentially dump a bunch of game music into a folder and have them play randomly as you select a console - of course it wouldn't coincide as well with the video as the stock audio, but it'd be neat to have your favorite game songs playing on shuffle whenever you selected a console.

Obviously, as a non-dev, I've got no idea how difficult this might be, or if the overhead would be too great, or if it's even possible, really, I just figured I'd suggest it. I did a search on the forums and the bug tracker and didn't come up with anything - hopefully it's not simply because my search skills are lacking.

I'm voting this to keep track of it, but I'm also the original poster. I don't believe I can "Claim" my original report since I did it without logging in, but I figured it couldn't hurt to create an account since I plan on participating in the future.

All of that said, with the recent changes to theme downloading this week, it has certainly become less of an issue.
