MESS filenames

Issue #2099 new

Request for MESS filename support in the LB scraper. I tried to replicate the scraper behaviour (use xml hashfiles for long names, use regional preference and ignore prototypes) in powershell here: http://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/34675-mamemess-filenames-for-importing/#comment-215020

but you will no doubt do a better job than me. Suggest it works just like MAME - ie an option to tell LB to use the MESS metadata to interpret the filenames when importing roms. I think you've done this for MAME already, but support for merged romsets would be an added bonus (ie choose correct romfile within an archive that contains multiple roms, using the archive name for the XML lookup, which will then give you individual romfile names). Interesting sidenote with this symlink workaround: LB is smart enough to follow the link so the LB XMLs point to the actual source. The links are only used during the scrape and can be safely discarded afterwards.

If you'd like anything extra from me just say the word - happy to help within the bounds of my limited skillset.

My rationale for the request is simple: MESS is part of MAME, so their filenames are as close as we are going to get to an 'industry standard'. Seems a safe bet that they will be with us for a while.
