horizontal text scrolling?

Really like the vertical scrolling capabilities of canvas as used in bigbox. Would it be possible to add a horizontally scrolling text control. This would facilitate certain designs within a theme, e.g., displaying a long string containing all the games listed genres, very long game title, etc. It could also be used for a "ticker" if newsfeeds were ever added to bigbox. I personally don't want newsfeeds in bigbox, but such a horizontal scrolling control would add versatility to the design of themes.
