Ultramap plugin

Issue #2381 new
Nelman created an issue

Hi Jason

I'm a new premium member and love the fe so far , my only issue is I have no way of loading ultra map files for my Ultrastick 360's. Will there me a plugin made available as hyperspin and Gameex currently have. I think quite a few people use these joysticks and the loading of .um files make games like qbert possible as well as tightening up the sticks travel for certain fighting games etc.

Thanks for your time and great product

Nelson

Hi Nelson, thanks for the purchase! I haven't researched those sticks much yet, but it might be worth posting on the forums, as I believe there might be a solution available.

Ultra stick 360 from Ultimarc is a weel known joystick in the arcade DIY world. Me too, I would like Launchbox to map automatically this joystick to any mame games. Please check how to do that by command line here. The defaut mapping in Mame should be 8 analog ways because few games are 2 or 4 ways. Ledblinky can map the U360 but, it give me some mapping errors when it don't go back automatically to 8 ways and I play a non mame game.

@Jason Carr Keeping this warm, as these sticks remain pretty popular, and the process of sending configurations to these sticks is trivially easy to do. It just requires Ultramap to be installed as a prerequisite, and the names of the configuration files all need to match the rom’s filename (e.g. rom: mrdo = mrdo.ugc). With those thousands of rom-named config files already available in the forums, all we really need now is a way for LB to run /path/to/ultramap.exe /path/to/%romname%.ugc, and sub out %romname% dynamically at runtime. It’s exactly the same as a run-before Additional App, just not manually created by the user game-by-game.

So, really, at bare minimum, all we need is an ability to specify a %romname% variable in Additional Applications, and have LB dynamically sub it out for mrdo when the user launches Mr. Do!, for example. If that variable functionality was available, then we could just use this plugin to bulk add Ultramap as an Additional App, all with the same commandline argument. Done.
