Controller support busted in BigBox in version 7.5

Issue #2389 resolved
Former user created an issue

Hi,

I updated to version 7.5 Now when I launch BigBox, select a game for any console from my "recent game" list, and press start on my controller, the game launches but I also see BigBox go back to the main menu (didn't use to happen). Now I'm in game, but if I press start again, it kills the emulator window and I'm back in BigBox! Kind of blocker since so many games require pressing start at the beginning :-/ There also seems to be other general weirdness with input, almost as if BigBox is sometimes double-reading the controller button presses, but that's harder to describe an exact reproduction of.

Note: I'm using an Xbox One controller. I have the start button mapped to "play". If you need any other information, let me know!

Do you have Steam running? I have the double input issue only when Steam is running, Steam's latest beta messed up controller support for 2 or more controllers.

I do have Steam running! Interesting. Guess the timing was just that I updated Steam and LaunchBox at around the same time.

If I turn off "Xbox Configuration Support" in Steam the problem is fixed. But it's a shame not to be able to use the new controller configuration ability in Steam. Hopefully either Steam fixes it or LaunchBox can figure out a workaround for it.

Did some more poking. Didn't realize the new controller configuration feature applies not just in-game but also has a separate "desktop configuration" that continues to run. So BigBox was in fact getting double input. You either have to disable all the button assignments in desktop configuration or just disable controller configuration entirely in Steam.

Feel free to close this bug.
