Steam video download

Issue #263 resolved
Former user created an issue

Games that are on Steam should grab videos from Steam.

For Hyperspin there is a 3rd party program called Steam Wheel Creator and it will pull metadata, trailer videos, images, etc. from Steam. Since you are already automating a lot of game data from Steam, videos should be grabbed too. This would greatly simplify video setup for Big box.

It would also be nice if LaunchBox could scrap Screenshots and Metadata directly from Steam. TGDB, Mobygames, etc are missing a lot of smaller PC games. Steam features all this data anyway so it would be nice to get them directly from there, so that the other websites only have to fill the gaps (boxart, clear logo, etc)

I was bit disappointed just now when I imported my steam games and it hit emumovies to pull videos (took days) and found that many of my Steam games don't have videos in Big Box mode. I knew they had videos on Steam so I searched the Googles (is that better or worse the "Interwebs" or "Internets"? :P) and found this! :) I've thrown my vote in for this issue. I see the priority is set to "major" so I assume it's a feature currently being worked on. Any (very rough) estimate on when it might be available?

Currently no, it's not being worked on. The Steam API is more limiting than might be first aparent, and we are unsure if we'll even be able to do this to be honest. We will let everyone know if and when we find out more though.
