Fullscreen video not working

I see the Play video fullscreen option in the game menu, but when I select it, the screen goes black and nothing plays. I have VLC set as my video player, as WMP doesnt play any of the videos I've tried to watch.

Even after installing windows codecs, videos not showing (WMV can play them). VLC set as video player, codecs should not have an effect, but still.
