Define a playlist as 'master' to 'subordinates,' delete duplicate games...

Issue #2722 new
EazyCheeze1978 created an issue

Hi! Got another request I think could work in regard to the new playlist feature, specifically the automatically created Arcade/MAME playlists. I'm running 7.8 beta-14 right now btw.

It is SO wonderful to finally be able to see the arcade games sorted by their company/system. However, the issue now is that within these playlists, there are certain games designated as 'classics' which also show up in their companies' respective sub-system list.

For example, the new playlist Capcom Classics has wonderful games like Trojan, Commando, Bionic Commando, Ghosts 'n Goblins etc. But by default, it also lists CPS-1 (Capcom Play System) games like Final Fight, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Willow etc. Same for CPS-2 and CPS-3 games.

Likewise, SNK Classics has Ikari Warriors, Victory Road, Psycho Soldier, even on back to Ozma Wars and Vanguard. But, it also has Neo Geo games like the King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown and Metal Slug series.

What I am suggesting is the ability to label certain playlists as Masters, and label certain other playlists as Subordinates to these Masters, then automatically delete the games from the Master playlist which also show up within the Subordinates, so the Master playlists can remain as clean as possible. (Terminology is of course mutable, as I don't believe Master and Subordinate would be the most fitting, but they're the terms that occurred to me first.)

Going on from this, this may actually be something that is being discussed, but the ability to hide, if not delete (I don't believe deleting would be appropriate for this) all playlisted games from the "Ubermaster" I'll call it, Arcade game list, would also be cool, and thus have the Arcade Classics platform be a Miscellaneous Arcade list for games that do not have a playlist (yet).

Thanks for your time! I am very much excited by the prospect and potential of Playlists. Take care!
