Feature request: Foobar2000-style metadata editing

Issue #2839 new
Former user created an issue

Request: Allow bulk updates to game metadata using a modified single-game edit panel, rather than (or in addition to) a wizard.

Task: Set a field's value for many games at one time.

Current user behavior: 1. Select multiple games. 2. Right-click and select "Edit". System displays bulk edit wizard. 3. Complete wizard (several clicks).

Proposed user behavior 1. Select multiple games. 2. Right-click and select "Edit". System displays modified verison of the panel used to edit metadata for a single game. 3. User changes value in field, and clicks OK. 4. For fields where user changed the value, write that value to all selected games.

Notes about the proposed modified game metadata edit panel:

  • For fields where values vary among the selected games, indicate variance of values, either by displaying a direct indication (e.g. an icon), or by populating the field with a comma-delimited array of the values in the underlying games.

  • Gray out fields that are not already included in the bulk edit wizard (and therefore presumably do not warrant a bulk edit feature).

See attached pictures for illustration.

Thanks! Aaron

I created this feature request (and a few others), but since it's my first time making request, I had neglected to create an account and sign in. If you have any questions about this request, let me know.

As always, thanks for an absolutely amazing app! Aaron Solomon (lifetime license)
