Updating Emulators from LaunchBox

Issue #299 new
Max Payne created an issue

Some sort of auto update process for supported emulators inside LaunchBox. With beta and nightly versions supported for such emulators, (There are many emulators that releases betas frecuently, like Dolphin) This should be user triggered and not a background automatic process. This will give the opportunity to the user to check if the update will mess with their save and config files (By reading the changelog).

I think that a "Check for updates" option at the Tools bar would be a nice place for this addition.

Good idea, but also should have a warning attached to it, sometimes the updates can break compatibility, especially the nightlies. Emulators like MAME will also need their roms to be rebuilt sometimes between versions, as new dumps are found and added to the database. Maybe have the option to store the previous version and be able to switch back.

Sure, makes sense Scott. I can't see it ever being truly "automatic". I think you'd have to manually choose which emulators to update and confirm them.

First we need to manage downloading emulators from launchbox, don't you think? I open one ticket to include download emulators from inside launchbox like we do with data and i could see other tickets claiming for libretto integration.etc. An option to download emulators pack or download by demand when we import roms ara sweet. I see like this, message: the suggested emulators for this machine are this, do you want to download the first suggested, download all? and then next, downloading emulator, importing roms.
