Possibility to leave images where the game folder is

Issue #310 new
Former user created an issue

Launchbox is such a great software, thank you!

I see that all images (screenshots, covers etc.) are being saved in one centralized folder.

I was wondering if it would be possible to add a feature to leave the images where I import them from and point to them instead?

This might be only my setup but the main reason for this is because my games are per folder base with all accompanying materials in subfolders (manual, music, videos, screenshots, covers etc.)

It would be great if it can be implemented perhaps as an option checkbox (e.g. "Don't copy image files, point to them instead".

Thanks!

Hi SandBird, you can change the locations of images per platform currently under Tools > Manage Platforms. It won't let you put images for each game into different folders (if that's what you're looking for), but it will let you relocate the images for each platform to a new location. Does that help?

    Hello,

Thank you for letting me know about these options.

However it would be great to have the possibility to have the images (any kind) per game folder (in fact, my manuals and any kind of extra is being saved per game folder). Also the problem of having one folder for all images it that it can get slow once you put too many files in that folder. The option you mentioned, can work for photos that were fetched via the web (downloading the metadata) but having the option for "linking" would be great. Another thing to consider is that having them linked would make moving, copying and backing up the main application much easier.

Thank you again for your attention to this issue and I hope it will be possible to implement.

    Have a Happy New Year!
