Feature Request - BigBox - Switch Region in Real Time and show alternate box art and titles

Issue #3188 new
John Klein created an issue

It would be quite nice if it were possible to cycle regions in the BigBox game list to view different regional box art and game names (and thus sorting).

The GamesDB would need a minor alteration to the AltTitle system to mark a specific AltTitle for a region as the primary, where all others are just used for matching but the primary would be pulled into users' local libraries. It would be safe to assume when there is only 1 AltTitle for a region that that is the correct (primary) name.

LaunchBox would need to track an AltTitle per region to display and fallback to the normal Title if none exists for that region.

LaunchBox would need to better track/display the regions of images like box art in the edit dialogs.

I vote for this proposition. My rom collection is made of French or European games and I would like to see the corresponding titles and pictures in LB, not the US titles. Thank you!

I'd actually want this in regular LB as well. Preferably one game entry would have access to 2 or more 'profiles' which could differ in region, rom file, publisher, release date etc.

A button could toggle the LB 'region mode' so as to switch between preferring (for example) Japanese or American versions. Say I've got 3 games, 2 are JP & US, 1 is only US. Japan region mode would show 2 japanese games and 1 US game with corresponding cover art.

This won't be an easy feature but would really help to separate Japanese, European, USA region roms.
