Cant add new platforms

LaunchBox 8.0-Beta-3 Window 10 No error messages

Platform view --> select button to add platform complete details

Result: Cant view/access new platform

Platform not visible under "Platform" view
.\Data\Platforms.xml does have has entries for for the new platform
no .xml file under .\Data\Platforms\
attempting to add roms then select platform from drop down but does not list the new platform
Tools --> Import --> Rom files... completes when selecting a new platform, confirms import of roms but still no platform visible under "Platform" view

This has been tried with various different systems, Arcade, Windows, MS-DOS etc.
