Feature request : Cache uncompressed files
Issue #4619
new
Extracting large compressed isos is time consuming and happens every time I launch a game. I would be a nice feature to add to keep the uncompressed files somewhere and add a parameter for how much data to keep.
For example, I set a limit of 20Gb. When the uncompressed file folder gets above, then delete the oldest uncompressed file to make room for the new one.
Doing so would save time if I play the same roms several times in a row. I feel it's something pretty easy to implement.
Hi Sylvain,
I wrote a plugin to do exactly this (it even defaults to a 20GB cache), which caches extracted games. The next time the game is launched, it is loaded directly from the cache. Both cache size and location are configurable, and also skips caching compressed ROMs smaller than a certain size. The plugin can be downloaded here: https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/file/234-archive-cache-manager/
