Massive Database Mixup in Super Nintendo section.

Issue #462 resolved
Former user created an issue

Hi there @LaunchBox, I use b5.8 beta 4 under Win7 (x64), Issue appears constantly. Steps to reproduce: When importing ROMs and selecting "Super Nintendo" or in my case i call it "Nintendo SNES", the ROMs do get imported and all selected images, videos etc. as well.

I then took Launchbox on an external HDD to a friend to show him LaunchBox and all out of a sudden the "Nintendo SNES" platform only showed Back Boxes instead of Front Boxes and sometimes a Logo and sometimes nothing at all.

So i looked into the Folder Structure of Launchbox which is usually: Back, Banner, Clear Logo, Fanart, Front, Screenshot and Steam Banner (in Images)

But... in the Nintendo SNES->Image Folder there are only the following folders: Banner, Clear Logo, Fanart, Screenshot and Steam Banner.

So it appears there are the missing folders called Front and Back! What LaunchBox does now on importing images is that it puts ALL Back and Front Images into the main image folder (Images->Nintendo SNES" and not into seperate folders (Front and Back).

That issues leads to a mixed-up database where many images are loaded double or three times and the Back Box art gets confused with the Front Box Art.

This ONLY happens in the Super Nintendo section of platforms. All other platforms import and show their files correctly!

I have added some screenshots to show what i mean. Please, iron out this MAJOR bug, since i can't complete my Super Nintendo Platform with this error occuring.

Thank you, G. Buch

Was LaunchBox always on the external HDD, or did you move it to the HDD? If you moved it, then something may have gotten corrupted during transfer. This may not necessarily be a bug, but we may be able to build a safeguard in so that this can happen less?

Backup your LaunchBox XML in your LB Root folder in case this doesn't fix things and if it doesn't we can go back to your current XML.

The easier solution is, create the missing folders in the SNES Images folder and re-download your SNES images. Does this fix your problem?

If not the harder solution might be: Ctrl + A your SNES games, and delete them all. Go to Tools -> Clean Up Images. For re-importing I suggest using the default SNES system name for now which is Super Nintendo (SNES). You can change that later in the Bulk Edit wizard if you really want to. Do this process with the default name and when the import process is done do all of your SNES games have their proper images?

Even if the result is the same it might help Jason figure out where exactly the problem was happening. The only other debugging step would be to use a fresh XML instead of deleting all of your SNES games, but all of the images will still technically be there.

After several days with no response, I am going to mark this resolved. If it is indeed not resolved then comment and I will re-open this. Conversely, you are more than welcome to head on over to our forums and get help there too. You'll generally have more help than just Jason and myself.
