Automatically apply a generic clear logo to games that are missing clear logos

Issue #4737 new
Scott Petty created an issue

When a game/ROM is missing a clear logo, and internet/forum searches for a clear logo come up empty, I am left with three choices:

1) Do nothing 2) Hide all games without clear logos (select this in Launchbox VIEW menu) 3) Create a "placeholder" clear logo

If I do nothing, the game menus in BigBox look horrible when games without clear logos are included in the lists/wheels. It ruins the flow and beauty of the interface.

If I hide all games without clear logos, I exclude some very good games. This is particularly true in the Wii, Windows/Steam, and Commodore 64 platforms.

So I use option 3 - I create a subfolder "Generic" in the Launchbox/Images/(platform of choice)/Clear Logo folder and use a generic clear logo for each game that is missing a clear logo. I use the same generic clear logo for each game missing a clear logo, usually just a generic logo for the platform itself (ie: Steam, Wii, Commodore 64, etc.). This prevents the ugliness that occurs when a game is missing a clear logo, and it allows that game to remain in the visible list (I don't have to hide games without clear logos). It's also VERY labor intensive. I have to edit each game without a clear logo, copy the game title, rename a generic clear logo copy to the game name, save it in the Generic folder, and refresh the images of the game to check that the generic clear logo is now displayed.

Would it be possible to place a single generic clear logo in the specific platform's Clear Logo directory, flagged by name and directory location, and choose an option in LB that would use this logo for any games within that platform that lacked their own specific clear logo?

Thanks! Scott

Here is what it looks like in LB and BB, in my Windows/Steam platform, with Generic Steam clear logos added to games which lacked clear logos...
