Set Monitor Startup Screen Appears On

Issue #4869 new
DeXLL GaMER created an issue

There is no option to define what screen the startup screen uses. On my three monitor setup, had a hell of a time getting the startup screen to appear on the correct monitor. Only by way of disabling/re-enabling monitors did I eventually get the startup screen to appear on the desired monitor. There should be a setting for this.

This has been an ongoing issue since startup/shutdown screens were implemented. There are so many simple ways of fixing this without even having to explicitly add a “Startup screen displays on X monitor” setting, but apparently, none of the devs use multiple monitors, so I wouldn’t hold your breath on this getting fixed anytime soon. At the VERY least, it would be nice if they would at least make the startup/shutdown screen window remember its last position. At least then, you could manually move the startup screen window to the correct monitor, and then, the next time it started up, it would be on the correct monitor (that is, if you haven’t changed your multi-monitor setup/positions). Instead, as it is, the startup screen opens up on a COMPLETELY arbitrary screen number (has nothing to do with which monitor LaunchBox is on), and despite where you move the startup screen to, or which monitor it was on when it closes, it opens up on that same monitor every single time (that is, until you roll the dice again, by turning on/off another monitor, at which point it randomly decides which monitor is going to be the new favorite).

Edit: While disabling/enabling monitors to try to get the startup/shutdown screen to display on the correct monitor, I’ve discovered that the startup screen and the shutdown screen windows do not even necessarily open/display at the same location. After disabling the monitor that the startup screen was erroneously opening on, I got the startup screen to start opening at the correct position on the correct monitor, but the shutdown screen was now offset from the startup screen location, displaying partially on one monitor, and partially on another monitor (such that there was a piece of the black background from the normally hidden shutdown screen displaying on my non-primary monitor while the game was running on my main monitor). It is pretty clear that there is simply no logic in place handling this stuff.
