With controller support enabled in Big Box mode, MC Cthulhu-based arcade stick causes double inputs

Issue #4923 new
Howard Vu created an issue

MC Cthulhu-based controller makes double inputs when used in Big Box mode. Tested same machine and settings except with an XBox One controller, and that worked as expected.

Double inputs means any time a direction is pressed on the joystick, it moves two spaces, making impossible to select the right target.

In normal Launchbox mode, the MC Cthulhu-based controller moves the mouse cursor, and you can select games normally. The double-inputs seem to be isolated to Big Box mode.

Some forum members have mentioned a conflict with Steam, but I did some testing without Steam running, and the issue remains. Also, it still seems to work fine outside of Big Box mode even with Steam running, so it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with Steam.

There do seem to be other reports of other arcade boards having the same issue, but I don’t have any of those to test. A search yields issue #2607 which reports the same issue with a SinMo arcade board filed in 2017.
