Tons of Memory Problems in latest upgrade

Issue #5065 invalid

Hey Jason, hope you’re well.

For test purposes, I’ve installed a fresh latest Launchbox on my portable machine. (I never really use BigBox mode for anything, as I prefer original LB anyway).

My Microsoft Surface Pro only has 4gb memory. I have 1 “eBOOK” added to my Launchbox and plain theme. LB is using 1 entire GB of memory and when I try to use launchbox, it often slows my Surface Pro to a complete stop? With only 1 book in my LB Library, I wouldn’t think LB should be using anything bigger than Kbs… it should be completely idle, so what on earth is going on with using 1GB of my 4GBs of memory?

My surface Pro can run Adobe Photoshop no problems, and handle entire heavy resource use 3d packages such as Maya without using as much memory as an empty memory in LB? Not sure whether this memory leak is some major new bug or what, but it’s either locking up my machine or slowing it to an unusable state. (This is without adding tons of my games collection).

Kind regards,

Steve.

Hi Steve, LaunchBox has pretty much always used around 1 GB of memory; it has for as long as I can remember, and nothing has changed in that regard with the latest releases. It’s not a memory leak; LaunchBox just uses that much memory.

A quick comparison with simple web browsers like Chrome or Firefox confirms that 1 GB of memory usage is not a lot of memory usage these days.

I'm not sure what might be happening on your machine as far as a slowdown, but I doubt it's related to the new releases of LaunchBox.
