Tools > Import > Windows Games does not offer folder selection

Issue #5364 new
Warren Tutwiler created an issue

LaunchBox ver 10.15 (though this has been an ongoing issue for many LaunchBox builds) running on Win 10 Pro (64-bit) ver 1909, build 18363.900

When attempting to import Windows games, LaunchBox apparently does a system search, but the criteria for that search are unclear to me. Be that as it may, many games are “missed” during this process, and a number of false positives (files unrelated to games at all) are returned, and (at least on my system, which has 4 different internal HDD) takes a LONG time - 20 minutes when I ran it just now for this ticket, with no new games to add.

This makes it necessary to go through a laborious process of instead using Tools > Import > MS-DOS Games, choosing the files/folders I want to import, editing each subsequent entry (or batch editing some of the fields) to change Platform and Status, and removing DOSBox requirement, then Searching for Metadata for these games (many of which will not be found, even those from Steam which are Indie games for instance), and possibly downloading Images.

The above steps should be able to be avoided by being able to specify what files/folders to scan when attempting to import Windows games, in the same way this is done for MS-DOS games. The Import screen even says it is parsing the “files and folders you specified” even though there is no means to specify any files or folders.
