Big Box Game Details

When transitioning to the game details screen occasionally Big Box will only display the cover art of the game and behave badly. This does not seem to be tied to a specific version of LaunchBox.

When encountering the black screen bug, the following options work as expected:

• Hotkey / button for viewing game images
• Hotkey / button for launching the emulator / program

When first entering the game details screen, pressing the confirm button would launch the game by default. When encountering this bug, attempting to launch the game via this same action will not behave as expected. The menu selection sound will be played, but no program will be launched. This selection can only be performed once. Other attempts will not produce the menu confirmation sound. At no point will the back button / ESC key bring you back to the games list view.

When this bug is in effect there is no audio from game snaps that would normally be playing. This bug also does not affect the Text List with Details view. It does affect multiple other views that use a fade-to-black transition, such as Vertical Wheel 1 and Horizontal Wheel 3. Big Box seems to stutter momentarily when producing this bug when normally transitions are fairly smooth.

I have yet to find a way to restore Big Box other than restarting the program when this occurs.

Adding a note here that this bug seems to still occur in the latest version of LaunchBox 11.12

Hi Seth,

If you are able to provide logs, for when this occurs, that could be helpful. Make sure logs are turned on in LaunchBox options, get this issue to occur to generate the logs (they appear in \\LaunchBox\Logs), and then post them here.

I enabled debug logging and switched between two games' details screen and managed to replicate the issue. Attached should be the logs generated.

Thanks for this report. I was able to track down what was happening and there should be code in place in 11.13 beta 4 release to correct this.
