Scroll games list with trackball

Issue #558 new
Silviu Dumitrescu created an issue

Would be nice if we had the ability to scroll through the games list with a trackball. This would make it much faster at scrolling through a larger list instead of page up/down.

The option configure the UI to jump one letter a time by using the trackball would also be great.

I don't think either of us have a track ball, any information on the trackball you have or drivers it use could be beneficial to us.

The trackball is from an X-Arcade Tankstick controller, all I know it is supposed to be a Samsung one according to the user guide (link) but Windows 10 detects it as generic HID device. Since the trackball emulates the mouse X and Y axis you can probably just test with that. I'd be willing to try it out if it makes it into a beta release.

I don't know how easily obtainable your drivers are, but I am guessing Windows 10 is just using generic drivers. My suggestion is to download a program called IOBit Driver Booster. My wife and I personally use this program and I got Jason to use it as well as some users on the forums. Download and run it, it will find all the devices (if they are plugged in) with out of date drivers. I am unsure if it will find your track ball drivers, but it would be the best solution to try, if you want.

Otherwise, thank you for the bit of extra information.

I've attached the Driver Booster driver list but I can't see the trackball on there, must be still detected as HID-compliant mouse, there's a bunch of them in there.

That just means a lot of your drivers needed updating. With that information though, knowing what driver it uses can help, thank you very much.

So that list I got was actually after I've updated everything. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks.
