"Error occured" on clicking Launchbox ID# link in game metadata editing page

Issue #5602 new
Chris Edgar created an issue

I’ve seen this happen with a number of games. Let’s take Archon: The Light and the Dark (for Atari 800) for this case.

I create a new game entry and search for it. It finds it, fills in the fields, all good. Game entry #123796. I then click on the game entry link in the upper right of the metadata editing window, and when the web site comes up it is blank with an “Error occured.” message.

One thing I notice is that the game ID# is not the same. On the browser web page it shows 73796 instead of 123796.

If I search for it in the DB, it finds the game, and when I click on it it goes to 73796, but it likewise comes up with “Error occurred”.

Apologies if this is a known bug.

Followed your exact steps and was not able to replicate. What version LB are you on? Does it do this every time or randomly? Does it just state “error occured” or does it provide more details?

The GameID in LB and the ID that shows in the website address not matching is not an issue. They have never matched.

Apologies I have been busy and didn’t see the response. I’ve done all this using the web interface, so I don’t think it’s a problem with the LB application at all, but rather the web DB. I noticed that the “Error occurred” response still happens if I go to the DB web site, search for the Atari 800 version of Archon, and click on the resultant link: https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/73796. This issue is the same as the one on the ticket I just submitted for two other game entries, so it can be folded into that. Sorry, amateur bug reporter here.
