Launchbox glitch

when I enter a game the controls go crazy and it automatically picks things on the screen. Certain games have gear shift icon and the glitch causes the gears to switch from low to high repeatedly.

LB does not have any effect on in-game controls. These are all set up and handled directly by the emulator itself.
If you run the game directly in the emulator (outside of LB) does the same thing happen?
