Stop recommending ePSXe as a PS emulator. It's a dead project and no longer as viable as most other emulators.

Issue #5731 new

There is a multitude of reasons why ePSXe should not be suggested anymore. Here’s a couple:

  • It’s a dead project and has been for years.
  • It’s unsupported. (^ reason)
  • It performs like crap on Windows 10 compared to how it used to with Windows 7, and you can find many people who acknowledge this.
  • You spend more time trying to get ePSXe to work well than actually playing games.
  • ePSXe doesn’t work well with streaming.
  • There are other PSX emulators out there that can do a MUCH better job than ePSXe can.
  • You already suggest some of the other emulators (RETROARCH!!!!!) for other platforms. ^

And before anyone asks, no it’s not a hardware problem, my PC is much more beefy enough than required to run ePSXe at the highest settings it will allow, yes I was able to make it run just fine, but it took more work and it has more issues than I feel are worth it in the slightest to even use it. It’s a dead project and nobody should recommend it anymore. The ePSXe project hasn’t received an update in four and a half years. It’s time to move on from it and stop pretending it’s still a good option. Use either Mednafen, RetroArch with the “Beetle PSX” (aka Mednafen) or “Beetle PSX HW” core, or XEBRA instead.

While everything you said is true there is still one really good reason to suggest ePSXe and that is because it requires no bios, it has it’s own built in HLE bios so for total beginners it is easier to get setup and running.
