Sync "installed" state with launchers, and be able to view only installed games.

Issue #5824 new
Martin Östberg created an issue

So nowadays PC games tend to take up a lot of storage space, and it’s not really feasible to have every game installed from Steam/Epic/Uplay and so on.

It would be really awesome to have Launchbox / Bigbox sync the installed state with the launchers since the PC / Windows game list can be pretty dynamic due to storage concerns.

Paired with this there should be a feature to only view installed games.

This sync could perhaps be configurable with a timer. With the default maybe being once a week, and with a way to trigger the sync manually from within LB as well.

This way the PC / Windows library in LB / BB would always be up to date with the launchers.

And I don’t really see a reason to view all the games that are not currently installed, since you’re can’t play them anyway.

Any game import through the a PC storefront (Steam, Epic, GOG, Uplay, etc) currently does an install check on startup and should be properly setting the installed flag already. We do NOT have a way to hide the not installed games though so will leave the ticket open to track that side of the request.

That’s good that the installed flag updates upon launch, however I would still argue that it would be a lot better if LB could initiate this sync without launching every game. That way the library would always be up to date without the need to launch every game which can be tedious if you’ve changed (installed / uninstalled) a lot of games.

My mistake on not being clear enough. The install flag is checked and updated on LaunchBox’s start up, not the individual game. You shouldn’t have to launch any of your integrated games for that flag to update properly. If you have a game you believe should be updating and IS NOT, please open a separate ticket explaining what game is doing so and from what storefront you imported it so we can took a look into that.

Thanks for the clarification! Just tried some games out and it does indeed update upon startup! So now the only thing missing is to be able to hide non installed games 🙂
