Emumovies media update extremely slow - 11.13-beta-4

Issue #6196 new
handyrandyrc created an issue

I was using 11.12 standard earlier today. I was having 404 errors with what seemed to be a session timeout issue with emumovies. I found someone stating that this issue seemed to be fixed with the beta, so I thought I’d give it a shot.

I don’t seem to be having 404 errors any more. However:

I am downloading file 130 of 119713 after probably a couple of hours. It’s interesting to watch the traffic with Netlimiter software. It starts off with a couple/three connections to 185.180.220.19:80 and :443. It then builds up a whole bunch of connections, maybe 10-15? These connections are listed in “red” text, instead of the normal black text. It then drops all of them off after 5-10 seconds of building up, and goes back to having 2-3.

I’ve got some great screenshots and am happy to troubleshoot further. I am an emumovies lifetime member.

I dropped Windows firewall. I changed my router configuration to put my PC in the DMZ (all ports to everywhere open). I even connected to ProtonVPN from a different place altogether to see if that made a difference. None of these were effective at helping speed things up.

I read a post on the forum, and it appears I am trying to download too much all at once! I didn’t understand the behavior of the dynamic URL generated by Emumovies and having it expire by the time it gets to that item in the queue.

I am getting around it fine now, that I realize I can select a bundle of titles and THEN run the Media Metadata update Wizard thing. I was trying to run the Wizard without selecting anything, and it chose the entire library!

Thank you – probably not a super fixable issue. I’ll bet those red items in Netlimiter are dead URLs that it is attempting to go to, and are failing.
