Launch specific game when Big Box starts

Issue #6218 new

Suggestion: When launching an instance of Big Box, give the user an option to have a pre-determined game automatically be launched immediately as well.

Expected result: Big Box starts and as soon as possible, a game / rom is opened without interaction from the user, thus concealing the BB UI.

Use case: I have a garage arcade with multiple dedicated cabinets. When I turn my games on, they all go into attract mode, enticing a user to play. It it’s current state, a cabinet with a PC and Big Box would stop at the game select screen and be an obvious impostor among the “real” cabinets. If Big Box would automatically launch into the cabinets dedicated game, the user would be oblivious to the shenanigans behind the screen. However, if the back command is entered, the game would close and the gorgeous BB UI would be presented to select something different.

Thanks!

Mostly thinking aloud here, but is there any reason a command line argument wouldn’t work for this functionality? Just pass the game id or file name to Big Box via command line (or alter the shortcut used) and it would potentially open up to a specific game
