MAME High Scores Companion App

I just want to put out an idea for a LaunchBox MAME High Scores app. Actually, I think it would be best to call it “LaunchBox Companion” app… or something along those lines, because I think it could evolve into more than just my initial idea over time.

I picture this app being used by logging in using your LaunchBox account and having access to not just your MAME high scores, but also the rest of the LaunchBox community’s scores. It could utilize the LaunchBox cloud service to import your compatible MAME library from your LaunchBox build. I see it being similar to what we see in the High Score screens in BigBox, but more in depth with a comment section or even a chat/friends' list mechanic. I think it would even be fun to have special high score tournaments every so often with some sort of prize offer.

I can also see the app being used as a centralized hub for LaunchBox news and updates, along with linked YouTube videos as they come out. If it were to include some sort of friends list, I can also see at some point being able to sort of streamline the process of finding and connecting to other people looking for online play. I’m sure there could be more uses that I haven’t thought of, but the MAME high score function seems like it would be a fun way to engage at first using something that’s already in place with BigBox.
