Issue #6444 new
Giuseppe D'Agostino created an issue

Hello, as you can see in the video below, if I set a boot video, the first platform video at launch starts muted; all fixes when moving the menu. Regards.

In BigBox what do you have your video playback setting to? VLC or Windows Media?

Does changing it have any affect?

Thanks for checking. I am not seeing this issue on any of my set-ups. So hopefully this is something our devs might be able to replicate.

Would you also check a couple other things to eliminate some items.

    1. Make sure your video drivers are up to date. (This has caused several user reported video issues more than often).
    2. Make sure Windows is up to date. (Less likely an issue, but lets eliminate it)
    3. Also check to see if you have “Nahimic” services running in your task manager. Doubtful it would be the issue as typically it causes graphical glitches. However, just to be sure if you have that showing up in your process shut it down and see if anything changes.

Morning. Ok, I’ll check the points you’re suggesting and’ll let you know; in my mind it seems some kind of “media request overlapping” as if when BB starts, the platform video starting finds software resources (codecs? irq?) for audio playback occupied. It happens with any platform video firsts loads up; tried a couple of workarounds with no results (a startup audio file containing only silence, changing the startup video, editing the launch video letting a bumch of silence at the end).

Thanks. The best thing we can do is try to eliminate it being related to your specific hardware/software. I have not been able to replicate it on any of my 5 builds. I am not one of the devs I just help troubleshoot. If they cannot replicate either it will be hard to determine a cause. So going through these common error causes would help us out greatly.

Also what version LB/BB are you on?

12.1 premium. Tried everything suggested, but no change at all (Windows already up to date, video drivers too, no Nahimic service running in the pc).

Hi mate, I got the point. The behaviour it’s caused by the BigBox setting in sound section that gives priority to the sountrack over video’s sound. Unticking it the first platform video has audio, but this means that if you have a soundtrack inside the platform’s game list, you’ll hear both soundtrack and game video’s audio, and that is bad. Btw now I’m on 12.3

Ah. I never even thought about that setting since I have never used it. I will give it a test and let the team know. Thank for the additional information.
