Easily allow a default marquee to be displayed for games lacking a marquee image

I would love if within Launchbox I could select a default marquee image, and have that image displayed for any game that lacks an image that qualifies as a marquee image. Having a black screen marquee while traversing the menu and playing games seems silly when it should be able to know of a default image to display.

What version LB/BB are you on?

Starting at version 12.0 to current new marquee features were added. 12.0 added new marquee image group. This feature set inside LB tools allows a user to set different fallback images and their order priority for marquees. This is one way to ensure you have an image at all times. 12.7 saw new coding added to BB that will show a background and clear logo as a fall-back as well. There are also new setting in BB to help further refine marquee image use.

If you are not on the most current LB/BB and your license still allows update I recommend updating. If you are on the current version than take a look at your LB and BB settings to see what is new.

If you are using a custom theme that theme could be using old code marquee image coding and not allowing the new features to show properly.

Is it fair to say that this functionality being limited to the default XML is still unintuitive? I’m using a custom theme and have no idea how to implement this default marquee functionality. That’s what the request I have is. I think it should be something that can be configured in Launchbox itself. Yes I can select a priority order for the marquee images based on images that may or may not exist, but there doesn’t seem to be a way in the Launchbox UI itself to be able to say if all else fails, use this singular image located in this exact spot.

BB does have a setting to override theme marquee view. Just check that box. Unfortunately LB/BB theme creators can code a theme that will override LB/BB settings. So in some cases you will either have to request on the theme creator's forum thread for an update or possibly learn to make the tweaks you may need.
