Please update embedded ScummVM from 2.2.0 to latest 2.5.1

Issue #6909 new
Jim Paton created an issue

I’ve manually updated the version of ScummVM in the ThirdParty folder to the latest v 2.5.1 but when I updated LaunchBox it overwrote it with v2.2.0 again. Please update the bundled version to the latest release. The game list for ScummVM is also missing some recently added games.

It would be really useful to have an optional override path to user-specified executables of DOXBox and ScummVM, instead of the ThirdParty downloaded versions that come with LaunchBox updates.

I’ve just updated LaunchBox to the latest version and again it’s downgraded my ScummVM back to 2.2.0! The current ScummVM release is now 2.6.0 - can we please get the embedded version updated? - or as suggested in the previous comment, allow us to override the ScummVM location.

Try deleting what’s in the ScummVM folder, recopying over the latest version, and edit the Properties of scummvm.exe to have the read-only flag. Turn off update check when running scummvm.exe.

@Nicholas, it’s not just a problem that ScummVM gets reverted, LaunchBox also needs to be updated with the names and ids of any games supported since ScummVM 2.2. Many games have added support since 2.2 including a particularly popular one: Grim Fandango. Until the dropdown gets updated with the newly supported games, those games cannot be launched by LaunchBox with the integrated ScummVM emulator.

The workaround is to manually add a ScummVM emulator in LaunchBox and pass as a ROM file an empty file that includes the ScummVM game id in the filename, such as “grim-win.scummvm”.
