Background Music Causes Launchbox to Crash

Issue #6917 new
John Berlo created an issue

I’m on the latest Launchbox (12.11). I have the full Mame 0.242 rom set loaded. I have background music tracks from ((pleasure dome link removed) and Launchbox configured to point to them. Launchbox recognizes there are music files as the icon for music is lit for those games. When I click on one, it changes the display appropriately. Then, about 10 seconds later, LaunchBox freezes and crashes. If no music files exist, there is no issue. I’ve tried this with several items with the same results.

    Hi John,

The way LaunchBox’s music system works is that it’s 1 music file per game. If you ended up dragging and dropping those mame music folders into LaunchBox\Music\Arcade, you will run into crashing because what LaunchBox does when you choose a game is scan every file inside of there to see if there’s a name match and then tries to auto-play the file. In your case, it ends up finding a txt file, since it has the correct name, and when it tries to play it, it crashes. In order to make it work, you’d have to remove all the txt files, and instead create m3u files. The m3u file contents would contain the playlist of all the mp3 files.
