Standardise Arcade Platform Playlists

Within the arcade games section of the platforms sort, what does and doesn’t get its own platform is really odd. Most SEGA machines get their own platform lists, but most for others don’t. Arcade games should be treated like other games, with unique platform playlists for all major unique hardware, as opposed to some having playlists, others having platforms, and others still having nothing at all. The arcade platform category does exist for a reason, after all.

As for some specific suggestions, https://www.system16.com should show everything you need. I’d say that at least all platforms with a defined name (as in, not named after a specific game or any specific hardware within) from the companies on the sidebar there should be given separate platform playlists.

If you’re worried that the arcade platform sort could get cluttered (which, I will admit, is a valid concern) there’s already a solution to this. Simply have the board playlists be contained within a separate category from the auto generated classics playlists, which should still exist. That way, no functionality is lost, aside from having an auto-generated playlist that only features MAME compatible games, which, if people really care about having that specific functionality, could just be turned into its own playlist.
