Automatic update/upgrades are adding start menu entries

Issue #7029 new

I have posted this on the forums https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/67901-preventing-start-menu-folder-creation-on-updates/ but i figured it might be better suited or get more visibility here, at least by those who have the power to fix it anyhow. I cant imagine this is intended behavior as it was not only not present in the past, but it would make the “do not create start menu” checkbox upon initial “installation” entirely moot.

basically i opt to not create a start menu entry being as launchbox is portable and does not create an uninstaller registry entry etc. never posed a problem after years of updating my “install” through the application. however after a transition to windows 11, i’m unsure if it’s due to 11 itself, or due to a bug in the specific version of launchbox, but when updating to a new release through the in app prompt it is now adding a launchbox folder and corresponding entries to the start menu.

this is redundant as I already have a “games/frontends/launchbox” folder with a launchbox shortcut created by me and this will presumably result in me having to go into %programdata% and delete the launchbox folder every time it updates.
