Add option to open Retroarch interface on Bigbox pause screen

Issue #7109 new

It would be nice to have an option on the pause screen of Bigbox to open the Retroarch menu on the currently running game. This sounds fairly pointless up front as RA has an option to change the button or use a combination, but their combinations are pre-defined. Some combinations I feel I would press often accidentally, or they conflict with other software (IE Moonlight, which has hard coded button combinations). If I use a single button, that would mean being unable to use it in any games.

All of our pause screen options currently just run AHK scripts to emulate input. For what you’re suggesting to work you WOULD need to set the interface button inside of RetroArch, and then tell us what combo you used so you could set the AHK script appropriately. We have no way to sending the RetroArch process a message that says “Open the interface” outside of this that I’m aware of.

What about adding buttons for one or two configurable AHK scripts, like the existing save/load ones? They could be hidden from the menu if the script field is blank, like the retro achievements option is. This could have other potential uses too, like if you wanted to start or close other programs in the middle of a game.

In my case, an AHK script to press a keyboard combination and open the RA interface would work great. My problem isn't that it my computer doesn't use a keyboard, rather that I stream it to a device that only has a controller. It's difficult to go press a key when the keyboard is in another building.
