Schedule Metadata and Image updating through LaunchBox

Issue #714 new
Brad Cheyne created an issue

Setup a system where LaunchBox reports the last time metadata was scraped from the database per game, and know when the database has had changes made to it. Have a system where users can set up a time (similar to scheduling windows updates and virus scans) where LaunchBox will check against the Database and find games which edited metadata date is newer then the reported date for the users current games. Maybe per system instead of per-game.

More than likely Premium only.

That is absolutely something I would like to see, though I agree on the Premium only part.

I like the idea but as this is useful for LaunchBox and BigBox i don't think this should be for Premium.

Well the question we generally ask ourselves when figuring out if something should be Premium or Free is, is the feature in question a required feature by the users? For example, we would never put scraping behind the Premium feature set, but Video from EmuMovies is (You'd need EmuMovies Premium too though). The videos are certainly not a dire feature, but images and metadata obviously are that important. We would never intentionally put features that are a requirement behind Premium, but the power user features, features that are of value and help the user out are what we try and identify. You can already update your LaunchBox library metadata and media, when ever you want, and we'll be working on ways to make it easier so that only new data is downloaded. However, a scheduled maintenance system goes that extra step that could potentially make it a Premium feature. I'm not saying it will or wont, but rather it's a prime candidate for consideration.
