Additional apps duplicated (x10) in 12.14

Issue #7240 new
Jordi Garcia created an issue

Following update 12.14 I’ve noticed Launchbox has copied the “Additional Apps” 10 times inside the “Play Version” submenu.

In the attached screenshot you can see how the entries “English CD”, “Italiano CD”, “Spanish CD” and “Spanish Floppy” appear 10 times each instead of only one. Entering the “Edit” menu for the game shows indeed how the entries are 10x present.

Do you have any backups saved from before the migration to 12.14 in the \\LaunchBox\Backups folder? I’d be curious to compare your current data file to the new ones. Has this happened with all your games or just the one?

I’ve attached a screenshot of how the “Additional Apps” menu looks. The issue happens in all the games that have those configured. I use them to launch different versions of the game (CD, floppy, english, spanish, etc.), if available. I don’t rely on Launchbox launching DOSBOX (the option in the Launching/DOSBOX menu is unchecked) but calling a .BAT which calls a given version/fork of DOSBOX and launches a start menu.

I’ve attached a “backups.rar” file containing the 12.13 files (oldest my backup folder has) and the “backups_new” containing the most recent, created just now.

Thanks for this. I’ll take a look and see if I can find anything in these data files that may point to what is going on

Hi, any updates on that? I’ve just updated to 12.15 and now Launchbox plain doesn’t start. First two attempts closed inmediately after starting. Enabled logging in “settings.xml” and it now just does nothing, no logs are created.

Most likely this is caused by using an external tool to modify your XML files. By chance, have you ever done that? Have you used an external scraper?

Never used anything other than Launchbox itself to manage the games. I’m adding them manually one by one, creating those “additional apps” for the different versions. The odd behaviour appeared all of a sudden, don’t really know what could have caused it apart from the version upgrade. Maybe it’s just me, IDK.
