Feature: Limit for downloads by type

Issue #7322 new
Glauco Fox created an issue

Most of the time I’m on big box and I don’t even bother having screenshots while there because the content shown is only videos, but whenever there’s a video missing and there’s no backup image it looks bad. so I was thinking of a feature to setup a limit of downloads per image type, so it wouldn’t waste a lot of space, it would optimize the download performance and keep presentation looking good. So you would be able to setup something like this:

Maximum gameplay screenshot images: 3
Maximum box front images: 1

A checkbox to prioritize a source would also be cool, so it would rather pull from Launchbox or Emumovies when both have it available:

[x] Emumovies preferred

And if possible an exclusion feature, to prefer a type of media than other when downloading. That would work prioritizing what should be downloaded. So in case there’s no video media for the current game, then download the number of screenshots listed on the limit. If the video is present on the repository, than download only the video.

Thanks for the request. Just know that a media limit feature already exists during imports and in the metadata and media wizard. You can limit downloaded media on a per-image group basis. Since it’s image-group based, you can prioritize which image types you would like to download over others. You can run the metadata and media wizard multiple times on different image groups to achieve more or less what you are wanting.

Keeping this open for now for a few other tidbits in your request.
