Feature request to either:

  1. add option to turn off the 3D feature to restore previous functionality with 2D box images, or
  2. add a new “2D box” image category to restore previous functionality

We have a 2D Box image group already. It’s called “Boxes”. The issue is that there is media being used that isn’t an image of just the cover, but include extra bits like the sides of the case in the image. The “2.5D” images you see floating around are an example of this.

I’ll leave the request open to address the potential of adding an on/off switch to some of the model features added to Big Box.

This links a little with one of my requests, albeit for a very different reason. It would be useful to turn off the 3D model box feature per platform - so you can disable it for platforms where the games didn’t have boxes, e.g. Arcade/MAME.

Christian - appreciate the response. Is there a way to prevent the extra borders that are now present in 13.0, but still use transparency? A white DVD case being auto-added to your Wii cover art, for example. When I switched over to boxes, the DVD case border is now removed, but there’s a black border where there was transparency prior to 13.0. See this post:

Also, choosing to rotate the box still wants to show all 4 sides, whereas a true 2D box option as I imagine it would be limited to just flipping between the front/back.

13.1 Beta 2 has options to completely disable the new 3D models in both Game Details (ImageView) and in CoverFlow
