[Desktop Request] Add Sidebar filter as drop down

Issue #7490 new
Diamond204 created an issue

Hello - I currently use Launchbox in a 2 pane view on a 3:4 arcade cabinet. I have large screenshots that I love, but had to remove the playlist selection pane for them to be large enough.

To fix this for users like me, can you please make the playlist text that is available at the top left a drop down so you can easily select other PLaylists, etc?

Please see attachment ‘playlist dropdown’ for a visual.

Thank you, David Murphy

and perhaps this dropdown only appears when the left Playlist pane is removed from view?

It’s possible to do this via theming. Many themes treat that area entirely differently. Airy for example is designed to work well with that side pane removed and allows the search/filter but be used with it off. It and Steamy also have a drastically different list view that allows you to focus even more on artwork and metadata. If you can’t find a theme that fits your needs you could probably ask on the forums for help in getting one made.

I’ll leave the ticket open so we are aware of the desire, just giving you work arounds to use as I don’t think it’s likely you’ll see any official changes to that soon.

Thanks for the tip Christian. I tried Steamy and Airy and liked them, but unfortunately the same issue exists for both.

Another way if your team wants to investigate this further is to add the platform/other filters option to the Menu that appears when you click on the cube at the very top left. Then maybe it would be theme independent, and more streamlined then say the ' View menu/reenable left pane/select different platform/view menu/disable left pane' method. Best, David

Unsure if you played with the various views in either theme, but what your describing sounds quite a bit like how those theme’s list view operates. It turns the sidebar drop down and list into two drop down menus at the top of the sidebar. Using either list does remove the per game artwork, but leaves the rest of the UI to admire your art with.
