Option to exclude games within playlists from their platforms

Would be good to be able to enable an option on a playlist that excludes the games within that playlist from showing up in their platform. The use case for me is that I have a playlist for PC DVD-ROM games (ie PC games that I had on disc), and I don’t want those games to show up within Windows. I could make a new platform called ‘PC DVD-ROM’ but I don’t want the file structure to change to reflect this, and should I choose to delete ‘PC DVD-ROM’ it would be very useful if the games showed up again in Windows, rather than me having to change the platform of the games.

I’d also quite like to import all my Steam games, but would like a playlist that only shows them and, in making that playlist, have those games not appear in ‘Windows’.

    Thanks for the request.

If you are referring to the structure that Platform Categories provides, do know that you could get what you are after by creating a second playlist with the remaining games that are not in your first playlist, create a Windows Category, and move your playlists into that category. Then you can hide your Platform from appearing in the Platform Categories view.

You can do the same with your Steam games by creating an auto-populate playlist with the rule of Storefront > Steam.

Remember, games have to be associated with a Platform, as it denotes what system it was released on. The Platform filter area will always show what platforms you have imported and the games inside of them.

However, the Platform Categories filter area was designed to be your sandbox to design the hierarchy you desire.

Ah thanks! Yes that’s a reasonable way to get the outcome I’m looking for. To clarify though I wasn’t requesting that games be disassociated with a Platform, only that, if they are added to x playlist, there should be an option of x playlist to hide games from their associated platforms within the Platform Categories view. After all, you can hide completed/uninstalled games without disassociating them from the platform.

This would be a useful feature. I have a whole load of Doom mods that show up as MS-DOS. I was intending to create an artificial Doom platform to keep these separate - although I know that this is not recommended, so creating a playlist that filters them out of the parent platform view would be a preferable solution.

I see no reason you couldn’t do that @Jim Paton . Just make sure the scrape as value is set to MS-DOS and you should be fine. If I were in your situation it’s likely what I’d do. Especially if your using something like gzdoom as an emulator.
