Launchbox 5.10 has broken the importation of MAME Software List .CHD Files

Issue #799 invalid
Former user created an issue

The version of LaunchBox you are using Version 5.10 and 6.0 beta-2

The version of Windows you are using Windows 10 Pro

How often the issue occurs Always

Steps to reproduce the issue if you are able to reproduce it Download MAME Software List CHD torrent containing .chdFiles Drag and drop a .chd file into launchbox Select system for the .chd file. In my case it is Philips CD-I Select MAME as the emulator Set command line argumanets to cdimono1 -cdrm (This loads the cdimono1 bios and allows booting of .chd files as roms) Go through the rest of the options On the MAME section, untick everything, I don't care if it imports non working games, etc. I also allow all clones, etc. The next screen lists all the games that will be imported, it will be blank.

I had this working perfectly with Launchbox 5.09 but after updating to 5.10 and trying to import new systems it doesn't work.

WORKAROUND - Import the roms as any system, even Philips CD-I but select a random emulator that is NOT MAME. It will import the games no issue. You can then batch add MAME as the emulator for the roms after it has imported them all.

Hi Mark, CHD games should also have a .zip associated with them as well. The method we envision people using is to drag the zips into LaunchBox, not the CHDs. The CHDs are just additional support files for the games and have to be in subfolders of the MAME ROMs folder. I'm going to mark this as invalid, but feel free to respond if I'm not following correctly.

    Hi Jason,

This is true for MAME ROM CHD's but the "Software List" CHD's are part of the former MESS system, these CHD's are console related CHD's rather than MAME related so they don't use ZIP files in the same way that MAME ROM's do. The MAME zip files contain the "game" and the MAME ROM CHD's contain all the extra "stuff" - music, video, game files, etc. where the SL CHD's are similar to exact copies of the CD's (for CD based games)

The system I was using as a test was the Philips CD-i - As long as I import it using anything other than MAME as an emulator it will work, but I then have to change the emulator from <whatever> to MAME in order to run the games.
