BigBox Attract Mode Freezing

Issue #8191 invalid

Hello,

I have an issue where BigBox will be in attract mode & will suddenly freeze/get stuck requiring a task manager hard exitrestart via Ctrl-alt-delete. It’s not a system freeze as I can load anything else I want even while leaving it froze via the windows key on my keyboard. Also it doesn't spike the CPU usage. There's no rhyme or reason. It does almost every night when I turn it on. Sometimes I can leave it up for hours on end before it happens. Ogler days it does it in the 1st 5-10 mins of starting BB. I'm not seeing any other program popping up & robbing focus. I give BB back focus & it won't unfreeze it. U have to force close it & restart BB. It only happens when in attract mode. It has done it pretty much this whole year at least for half the year. It's not a certain game or system. I have a huge collection & it's never 1 game being a repeat offender. I figured it would work itself out but it hasn't. The build went yrs w/o this issue. It started a few updates back. I'm on windows 10. Possible it's something MS put in a Windows update, idk. I have all games removed system wide unless they have a vid, cover/flyer, & disc/cart. I went from Win Defender to Malwarebytes to AVG antivirus to see if that’d help but no luck. I went back to Defender w/ the entire BB build location listed as a safe exception as I had tht setup b4 the freezing issue. My BB build is on its own hard drive inside my cab & it's updated to the latest LB/BB version. I'm stumped & it's prob going to be hard to track down

Reporting back on what I did after reading your suggestions & what the thread suggests. Since I have 10 or 20k game vids (idek lol) I decided my best path was to wait for BB to freeze & then remove or replace the game/vid it froze on. I remember correcting 1 vid for sure & maybe I deleted maybe 2 more or so. It's been awhile since. It's now been quite some time since BB has hung up now. I sometimes have it on for 48 hours straight on the weekends. In my experience there does seem to be validity to the theory of a corrupted or incompatible video causing the issue. Strangely the 1 video I for sure remember changing played fine outside of BB in VLC & WMP. I still just made my own vid for the game & got rid of the questionable vid. I think the cause is a video or videos though! My advice for others is if u have a huge library let it freeze, note the game/vid it’s froze on & delete tht game or make a new video if u want to keep the game. Repeat as necessary. I’ll report back if my suspicion changes. Ty for your assistance!
