Syntax highlighting for JastAdd on GitHub
Issue #283
new
I did some research on what it would take to get syntax highlighting for JastAdd code (*.jrag
and *.jadd
) on GitHub.
Java highlighting would work fine for JastAdd code, and it seems the process to make a pull request to github/linguist would be fairly simple. Everything is documented in the github/linguist repository. However, I don't know if there is a high enough volume of JastAdd code on GitHub for them to want to handle it. From the contributing guide:
We try only to add new extensions once they have some usage on GitHub. In most cases we prefer that extensions be in use in hundreds of repositories before supporting them in Linguist.
Part of the requirements for submitting a new language extension are to link GitHub searches that demonstrate in-the-wild usage of the language. If we collect enough searches we could probably get a JastAdd extension merged.
Here are some searches:
- user:extendj extension:jrag (ExtendJ Jrag)
- user:extendj extension:jadd (ExtendJ Jadd)
- user:google extension:jrag (SimpleCFG)
- user:svn2github extension:jrag (JModelica)
