Makefile extensions

By now the makefiles are detected as files without extension called Makefile, makefile, Gnumakefile or gnumakefile, or as files with extension *.Makefile, *.makefile, *.Gnumakefile or *.gnumakefile. Makefiles have usually extensions as *.par, *.conf, etc., so I think that all files called Makefile, makefile, Gnumakefile or gnumakefile with any extension should be candidate as a makefile. The file could be tested for makefile searching for example a makefile comment in order to try after with the extension for other language
