Why do we start searching for traffic when switching to the lines view?

I discovered while debugging the application that the request for traffic info is sent when the user switches to the lines view (which is the view before).

It might be a bug, but also a way for android to prepare for the case where the user switches to the next view.

It might be interesting to know the answer, and possibly use this to fetch results faster.
